The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development has the following responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the National Land Policy and the National Housing Development Policy;
• Managing Land Administration;
• Supervise the planning and development of towns and villages;
• Supervise and facilitate land surveying and map preparation;
• Land titling and facilitating the issuance of customary title deeds;
• Registering land titles, transactions and legal documents;
• Managing property valuation;
• To encourage and facilitate the construction of quality housing;
• Managing property development;
• Managing the resolution of land disputes;
• Managing the maintenance of land records;
• Managing the collection of revenue from Land Sector services; and
• Facilitate the preparation of land use plans and monitor their implementation
